Marvel Comics, a basic necessity in my life. I read a variety of books from Marvel, but when one fo these five names are on the cover as the series writer, its a must read. Check out who my top-5 favorite Marvel comic book writers are below.


#5 – JONATHAN HICKMAN

Jonathan Hickman is an American comic book writer and artist. He is known for working on Fantastic Four, FF, and S.H.I.E.L.D. titles. In 2013, Hickman wrote a six-part miniseries, Infinity, plus Avengers tie-ins for Marvel Comics. In 2015, he wrote the crossover event Secret Wars. More recently he has been known for re-launching the X-Men lines in 2019.

#4 – JIM STARLIN

James P. Starlin is an American comics artist and writer. Beginning his career in the early 1970s, he is best known for revamping the Marvel Comics characters Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock. Starlin co-created Thanos, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora and Shang-Chi. Starlin was the writer for Marvel’s Infinity Gauntlet series in the early 1990’s, one of my favorite series.

#3 – STAN LEE

Stan Lee was an American comic book writer, editor, and publisher. He rose through the ranks to become Marvel Comics’ primary creative leader for two decades. Lee co-created Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch and Ant-Man.

#2 – CHRIS CLAREMONT

My Favorite Marvel Comic Book WritersChristopher S. Claremont is a British-born American comic book writer and novelist, known for his 1975–1991 stint on Uncanny X-Men. He is credited with developing strong female characters as well as introducing complex literary themes into superhero narratives, turning the once underachieving comic into one of Marvel’s most popular series. He co-created many Marvel characters, too many to list here.

#1 – BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS

My Favorite Marvel Comic Book WritersBrian Michael Bendis is an American comic book writer and artist. He has won five Eisner Awards for his work. He, along with Sara Pichelli, created Miles Morales as the new Spider-Man. Bendis relaunched the Avengers franchise in 2004. He has also written the storylines Secret War, House of M, Secret Invasion, Siege and Age of Ultron.
